Step 1

When installing a glass balustrade, you need to figure out where you are going to fix your glass and fittings from. Here are your two options:

Deck Mount
A deck mount glass balustrade is installed on the top of the structure. Hardware required for installation:

A deck mount glass balustrade is usually the most common installation.

Face Mount
A face mount glass balustrade is installed on the face of the structure. Hardware required for installation:

A face mount glass balustrade is usually installed on stairs or smaller decks.

Step 2

The next step is to decide how you will support the glass panels. Here are your options:

Spigots
A spigot is fitted onto the structure and the glass is then inserted into the spigot. The 3 spigots options are:

Each spigot can be installed directly to the deck.

Posts
A post is installed onto the structure and holds the glass from the sides. The 3 types of posts are:

We have end, centre and corner posts available. We can also make custom posts if needed.

Channel
A channel is screwed along the top of the deck before the glass is glazed into the channel.

Standoffs
Standoffs hold the glass off the face of the structure. Standoffs can be installed onto timber or concrete. They are available in various heights/diameters. If using standoffs, you can use a top mounted or offset rail.

Step 3

For step 3, it’s time to choose the handrail position.

Note: If the drop from the floor you are standing on to the ground below exceeds 1,000mm, then a top rail is required. If the drop is under 1,000mm, it’s optional. The handrail can be installed on the top of the glass. This is known as a top mount rail. Or you can install it off the front of the glass. This is known as an offset rail. See below:

Top Mount Rails
Top mount rails can be stuck directly to the glass using a glazing rubber or silicon.

Available profiles:

Offset Rails
The handrail is supported off the front face of the glass. The rail connector or offset bracket is attached to the glass via a pre-drilled 20mm diameter hole.

Available profiles:

Note: Only the 50×10 rectangle rail can be attached via a rail connector.

Timber
For deck mounts using posts with a timber top rail. The posts are built with a flange welded to the top for the timber rail to be screwed to.

Note: We do not supply the timber.

Stainless Steel
For deck mounts using posts with a stainless-steel top rail, we have round and square stainless rails available. It’s typical to use the same profile rail as the post.
